WHAT IS THE HUB?

The Hub is a Real Student Space for the Interprofessional Community at UCSF, providing a space on campus where students feel connected and supported.

There are three main ways by which we hope to accomplish this with The Hub.

Study Space/Familiar Face

From Noon-7pm, students are able to utilize this space to study with the support of their peers and the bonus of snacks. The idea is that studying doesn't have to feel like such a burden when you are in a comfortable, supportive environment, where others are there to chat with over breaks, ask questions, review material, and share resources.

Stress Relief/Strong Student Sessions
Worskshop/teach-in sessions will be held that provide skills, techniques, and resources to helps students and student leaders be successful and effective. Examples include yoga, study skills, time management, professional planning, etc.

Health Unity Board
The third is to improve communication and collaboration between student organizations, specifically those with a focus on supporting diversity and addressing health disparities. The first Monday of every month, the student run organizations meet to discuss upcoming events, current issues, and future steps for each organization as well as for the collaborative unit.

WHERE IS THE HUB?

The Hub is currently located in the Medical Sciences Building, Room S-182.

WHEN IS THE HUB?

The Hub is open every Monday from 1PM to 7PM.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the HUB is to foster collaboration between interprofessional groups that promote cultural awareness and diversity. By creating a physical space where students can gather and exchange ideas, we aim to build a diverse community with the end goals of 1) increasing the recruitment and retention of under-represented and underserved groups in healthcare and 2) establishing an Office of Multicultural Affairs at UCSF.
